DOW has unveiled that their new line of Powerhouse Solar Shingles will be available in the middle of 2010 but won’t be widely available until 2011. Many homeowners will warm to the idea of a solar shingle more than they will having to stick large solar panels on top of an existing roof.

Costs are less for this type of solar panel as they can be installed at the same time as the rest of the roof with the added benefit that they blend in better with the rest of the roof than traditional PV panels.
